American Airlines Complaint - Delay Carry-on and Lost of Property
Recently, I flew to Medellin, Colombia using AA.
There wasnot more room to put my carry-on bagage inside the bin on the airplane, so I was asked by the Flight Attendant to check my carry-on bag. I told them I had expensive and personal things like video and photo cameras, contact lenses, etc inside the bag, and I did not feel confortable leaving them on the bag since I did not have any locks.
The Flight Attendats told me everything would be ok, but when I arrived in Medellin I did not find the bag.
The bag was found the following day, and once I got it, I realized some expensive belognigs were gone and I told the agent at the airport who filed the complaint and report.
I took my paper work to their office in Medellin, and I was told that without the receipts proving I had bought the missing merchandise they won't pay me (who carries all the receipts for iteams you bought a long time ago?), they even insinuated that I was filing a false claim.
A month later after I returned from my trip I received a check for $ 80.00 dollars. Somebody stole my carry-on property for around $ 4,000.00 and they just wanted to pay this amount?
I returned the check and I am still waiting for their call or any solution to the problem. I had tried to call them, but I am never able to find "an uvailable" agent.
I am thinking in taking them to court to get my money back.
I will appreciate any advises in how to get my money back.
