We have the same problems as charles7279 with Citifinacial Auto Corp. The car we had given up was done in the time Transouth still owned the company. We settled with Citifinancial after they took over. They never sent us any papers either to count as income for taxes. Back then we was never made aware by anyone of this new claim and did not expect to need a form to file with the IRS. I informed the IRS of this and they really don't care, they just want their money. However I found my papers were I had paid them off and they had filed with the IRS in the wrong year. If I am not mistaken they were not allowed to claim these write offs as tax breaks before 2007, our settlement was in 2006. They however made it look like we had paid it off (a much higher settlement too) in 2007. The IRS is investigating, but I am not holding my breath. I wish there were lawyers who would take on something like this.
