Care Credit - GE Money Complaint - Unethical Business Practice

Review by tness on 2010-05-04
PO 96001, FLORIDA -- Do not use this company if at all possible, they entice you with low interest or no interest periods, but then they change their billing cycles, don't send your statements so that you are a few days late, and in the fine print that is when they can change the APR terms to 29%! I called when I hadn't gotten my statement and made the payment by phone, but it was late, and it's your word against there's as to whether they really sent a statement or not. They would do nothing to reduce the APR because of the 2 days late. This is unethical business practice and they should be investigated.

On July 1 of this year situations like this will be addressed by new credit card regulations. For a good review of the new rules go to HTTP://www.federalreserve.gov/consumerinfo/bcreg20081218a1.pdf -- I found this summary helpful.

Can you get email statements? That might solve the statement problem and delivery issues with snail mail.

The actual due date is noted on the statement, whether mailed or sent electronically. If you open the statement at the time you receive it, you will see the due date and can then remit your payment in a timely manner.
