General Electric Company Complaint - GE Washer - WWSE5240G0WW
We purchased our washer May of 2007. First problem. The people who delivered removed the safety bar (this protects the drum when going down the stairs)outside since they did that, about a week later there was water everywhere. Called the technician and low and behold the entire drum was cracked and the motor was ruined.(because the safety bar was removed before it was set up). Not a good sign. GM replaced the tub and the motor. It worked fine for awhile. Approximately ten months later the machine wouldn't spin so they came fixed the problem. Now it's May of 2010 and suddenly my washer stopped spinning, called and GE came out and said that the motor was shot. I told them that it had been replaced a couple of years ago and explained what happened. They have no record of me...hmmm, interesting. It will cost over $300 to fix it, the repairman told us we were better off buying a new one...so that is what we are doing...we are definitely not going with a GE. Also we were charged a service charge for walking in the door and telling us that the motor was shot. From reading other sites this seems to be a BIG issue with GE washers..wish I knew that before purchasing.
