Lowe's Informative - Failure to Honor Rebate
AUBURN -- If anybody thinks Lowe's is any better than Sears, then think again.
I bought the largest stainless steel refridgerator that the Lowe's in Auburn had in stock. It cost $2500 with tax.
When we picked it out one night, we were told that the delivery would be free. When I went back the next morning to pay for it, I was told that the free delivery progran had expired at midnight the previous night. And that I would have to pay for the delivery since I hadn't actually bought the refridgerator the previous night. So I paid for the delivery. Well over a hundred bucks.
But it had a rebate offered as well as a Lowe's gift certificate, all totaling $200.
Since it was a healthy rebate, I filled out the form and mailed it the next day. A month later, Lowe's notified me that they would not honor the rebates. Why? Becausse the post office did not stamp the date on the postmark.
In Alabama, we just drop our mail in the box and the postman takes it from there. I don't understand how I became responsible for what the post office does or does not do after I drop the letter in the slot.
These retailers are counting on most people not returning rebate forms, and for those few that do, they hatch other schemes to keep from paying.
I hope I can cause Lowe's to lose $200 worth of business by telling others about the stunt they pulled on me. BUYER BEWARE!!!
