Government Grant Information (www.gvtgrantinfo.com) Complaint - False Information on grants being administered

Review by piojita63 on 2004-11-30
NORMAL, ILLINOIS -- I recieved a phone call from a man claiming to be able to guarantee $8,000 in non-repayable grants for me. He said that I was on a special government eligibility list, which qualified me (and guaranteed me) to recieve the money. All I had to do was give my account and routing number for my checking account in order to recieve a packet with "confirmation materials" Thankfully I did not do so (Who would give out such info. on the phone?!) Yet, upon reviewing their website, the terms of agreement were completely different from the "guaranteed money" that the sales representative portrayed over the phone, not to mention that he failed to identify a purpose for such a wrong way of collecting money for "guaranteed grants"...The representative was not clear as to the order and dates for processes to be completed for the grant, yet he did admit that there was a procedure leading towards approval involved. How this was correlated to anything with a guarantee, was not fully explained by the man. His only feedback on my rather straightfoward questions was reassuring me of a guaranteed wad of cash for my future.

Yeah this has been running rampant. I know of 2 people now that have gotten this phony offer via telemarketer. Both people had thier thier phone #'s listed, so that seems to be how they find you...i have an unlisted #, and have never gotten the offer.
