Chipotle Complaint - Cheese cheepskates - Burrito and tacos

Burrito and tacos - Complaint
Review by furman on 2010-05-07
MINNETONKA, MINNESOTA -- I went to the Ridgedale MN. Chipotle tonight though this applies to all my visits in town they ask you what you want on your selection and when it comes to the cheese they put the smallest amount possible on them. I repeatedly ask them to put on more cheese. When my second selection came around I told him to put on the same ingredients on this selection too he then attempted the cheapskate cheese portion again. are they bringing the extra cheese home at night? I would rather have more cheese than all the meat which would balance the flavor. I looked at there website but found no place for reviews. Love the food !

I love eating at chipotle I agree they tend to be cheap with the toppings.

You do realize that they have marketing specialists that determined how much cheese should be put on the food to make it profitable don't you? They can't go by your own individual taste. If you want extra cheese, pay for it.

Actually Chipotle seems to have no portion standards. I get a different amount of chicken every time it seems. Some people do a whole spoon, some do a spoon and a half, some give me a skimpy spoon, etc. The preparers just eyeball it. I always eat there so I never get a chance to take it home and weigh it and truly see how much it changes each time. I wrote an email to Chipotle once inquiring about a new location and they sent me a very nice email back. I bet you can send them an email asking about the cheese issues and they would be nice in sending you one back.

Some of my favorite complaints on this site follow the same formula as this complaint.

"I didn't like [blank] so I asked them to fix it and they did."

I don't think they are being cheap. They have portion control for the items and that's what they go by. Glad you got what you asked for and enjoy the food. At least they didn't try to nickel and dime you for the little bit of extra portion you requested.

They charge you 1.50 for a dab of Guac thats to much for guac.

Skye, that's true, but I have a reverse complaint. Someone who gets a loaded burrito with the works, tons of cheese, salsas, sour cream, you name it pays the same as me, someone who just gets chicken, rice, and cheese. They used to secretly charge a "line item" price of like 4.90 for my not so loaded burrito, but they don't anymore. I think there should be a "value" burrito for people who don't get the works.

I totally agree with you Yt. I do not eat Chipotles, I find it too spicy for myself, but my husband does, and those burrito's he has brought home for himself were always HUGE.

The times I have gone to Chipotle they make the burritos so huge they can hardly wrap them. My friends and I just buy one now, split it and then order a side of chips and guacamole to go with it. The portion of cheese that I have gotten has always been enough, but I guess the term "enough" is subjective and depends on who you are asking.

I have been known to scarf doown two of the burritos when hungry.
