FTD Complaint - My mom got NOTHING for Mothers Day...thanks to FTD. - Flower Delivery (lack of flower delivery)

Flower Delivery (lack of flower delivery) - Complaint
Review by Bitzi on 2010-05-09
DOWNERS GROVE, ILLINOIS -- The worst thing that you can give your mother for Mothers Day is nothing, and that is exactly what my mom got from me this year. I ordered flowers by phone (1-800-sendFTD) on May 4, 2010, with a promised delivery of May 6, 2010. It is now 7:22pm on Mothers Day, May 9, and my mom has nothing from me...not a card, not a kiss, nothing, thanks to FTD. I have spent hours on the phone with this company this weekend...and still, NOTHING. I feel horrible!!!! This service is UNACCEPTABLE.

They were probably overwhelmed with orders as they do every Mother's Day.

Overwhelmed or not, that isn't the customers fault. If they couldn't make the delivery then they shouldn't have accepted the order.

I'm pretty sure that if you give Mom a ring on the phone, chat with her for a while, and then explain what's going on, she'll understand, and be o.k. with the flowers being a bit late. Not saying that it's o.k. for FTD to fail to deliver on their part of the bargain, but I'm hoping your entire relationship with your Mom isn't based upon whether or not she gets gifts.

Hmmmm..I gotta wonder if this stuff is really that hit and miss. Thursday morning I reminded my husband to get something for his mom, and he ordered from FTD online. My MIL got her flowers and cookies on Saturday, and she was thrilled with them.

It's probably a law of averages situation. You have to figure that with millions of orders flying across the nation on the various sites, chances are that some of them are going to go wrong. It's always a mess if you're the person who happens to be on the receiving end of the errors, but it's just never going to be perfect. I'd like to think that most Mom's would understand that, and that they'd be just fine with a great conversation on the phone (or in person if you're close enough), and with the flowers getting there a day or two after the date. I, myself, always have them delivered early in the week, so avoid the rush closer to the holiday.
