Symantec Corporation Complaint - Symantec Wants You To Debug Its Beta Version Products - Norton 360 Version 4

Norton 360 Version 4 - Complaint
Review by BobTheGeek on 2010-05-10
I have owned and / or used, and recommended Norton products since Peter Norton started the company.

I am severely disappointed that Norton / Symantec chose to release Norton 360 V4 without completely debugging. It operates like a Beta Version. Doesn't even recognize Firefox (NOT a very obscure application, I'm sure you'd agree).

I spent 4 hrs yesterday on my own and at least an hour or 2 with your support trying to get it to work.

Solution: Uninstall V4 and reinstall V3.

I'd like to know what you will do to retain me as a customer.

Of course your statement below (no personal response) further 'enhances' your image.

Norton makes great sandpaper.

Good review, even though I don't use Symantec products (btw, I'm using Firefox right now).

Firefox and AVG make a perfect combination and they don't cost a thin dime...

personally that's why - for my pcs at least - i only use basic norton antivirus (corp edition). no new software to test, nor any new fees to pay each year. (and yes it's a legal copy) :-)

o wow, corp edition has been discontinued. still works tho.
not sure how long the new versions last... *shrug*

I use Macs almost exclusively (except for my daughter's netbook); running anything by Norton was always a huge disappointment.

well yeah there's that too.
aint running any antivirus on the mac

truth be told i could probably take it off the PCs too since neither the old desktop of crap-mini are going online any time soon.

actually that's really the best way to defend a PC... don't put it on the internet.
i freaked out someone at work once (back when i worked in the IT shop on my second ship). they were astonished that i didn't have any antivirus on the laptop i was using at the time... until i pointed out "i just installed the OS and it's never been online". they agreed then, why bother.

=)
