Volvo Complaint - Might as well have just burned $12,000 in cash.
Last year I bought a 2004 Volvo s40 in great condition with approximately 50,000 miles on it. When I was growing up my parents had a volvo, and it caused them nothing but problems, but I figured they had received a "lemon" and took a chance. I was very happy with the car upon purchase, but 2 months after when it started to get warm outside, all hell broke loose. First, all windows and and lock functions went out with the exception of the passenger front. Soon, the AIR CONDITIONING went out (keep in mind this is a BLACK car and I live in Nashville, TN where traffic is awful and our summers are hot and very humid). It's not a freon issue, and nobody can find a leak.
Soon after that, the trunk also stopped functioning- it now comes in and out depending on how hot it is that day. During the summer I have to put the back seat down and crawl in to pull the emergency latch to get it open.
The stereo has eaten a CD and I can't listen to any music in this miserable hot car because in trying to fix it, the radio got shorted out as well.
AND THE LIST GOES ON!
Now the passenger window is off track and at a precarious I-could-fall-out-at-any-minute-if-I-wanted-to-angle with an 3 inch gap that cannot be closed for rain. And the driver side windows has slowly sunken about 2 inches, and I have no ability to roll it up for rain either. Did anybody hear about Nashville's recent FLOOD? Yes, my car is now waterlogged.
Last week the power steering went out and JUST THE PART (a hose) is going to cost me over $200.
I spent $12,00 on this car, and it breaks my heart every single time I have to drive it. I can't believe I put my faith in Volvo. I will never EVER buy a volvo again, and I will never EVER let anyone I care about purchase one.
