Best Buy Complaint - They will flat-out lie to your face to sell their Black Tie warranty
AMERICAN FORK, UTAH -- When I bought my camera, the Best Buy salesperson promised an easy exchange if something were to happen: First Lie
I called the American Fork, UT Best Buy from 200 miles away. They told me to "bring the camera in and [they'd] exchange it." I drove 200 miles to get it replaced (I was on vacation). I even told them I was going to drive 200 miles and they assured me that they'd "take care of me" They wouldn't replace it. Second Lie
They said they had to send it in for repairs and it would be shipped to me in 6 weeks!! I was on vacation and needed a camera and they said the only thing I could do was buy another camera and return it (and pay a 15% restocking fee that they refused to waive)
I tried to buy my exact same camera and they said none of the Best Buys in the area carried it. Third Lie.
They ended up getting the camera back. It had not been fixed. The repair shop told them to replace it. They said I had to come to the store in order for them to exchange it. I said I live a thousand miles away and they promised to ship it to me. So after 4 weeks, they are shipping my broken camera back to me. They said they'd ship it immediately. Fourth Lie.
I called them and they said they'd check their warehouse to see if it shipped and call me back in the afternoon or next morning. Fifth Lie.
Still haven't received my broken camera (or a phone call back).
Heed this warning: Best Buy employees will say anything to a customer as long as they get them out of their hair as fast as possible. Even if they just don't know what the terms of the protection plan are, they will simply just tell you what you want to hear...until you drive 200 miles . I am not exaggerating this story...I was lied to by everyone. They should be ashamed.
