Gateway Complaint - Gateway Abandons Customers After the Sale
I created the above website to more fully detail my negative Gateway experience and help inform others how poorly Gateway treats customers after the sale.
When I purchased a Gateway computer from one of their "Country" stores approximately 2 years ago. I was told by the sales person that they had a great repair department and they serviced their own brand. The sales person offered me an extended warrantee but stated without it that Gateway would still repair my computer in the future if needed ... only at my expense.
Now Gateway refuses to service my failed flat screen monitor that has the Gateway logo on it. It took me multiple efforts with online customer service and hours on the phone just to find out the monitor was made by LG Electronics. My monitor failed in less than 2 years and I have had others to last more than 14 years. Monitors can also be repaired. They are not sealed units.
Gateway's reluctant offer to me was to essentially sell me another monitor at cost. In my opinion I was sold a lemon and lied to. Why should I spend another $300 to $400 and repeat the problem?
I also have a documented complaint registered at planetfeedback.com. There are over 860 Gateway complaints detailed there.
My hope is that my website will help others to avoid the frustration I have experienced with Gateway.
Please view my website and forward it to your friends and family. Unfortunately it seems complaint forums are reactive in nature. People turn here once exasperated and at wits end after being treated unfairly. With the help of you all a "pro-active" campaign against unscrupulous computer manufacturers will force them into honorable business practice or go cow belly up.
