Home Depot Informative - Though it could not get any worse
TAMPA STORE # 0279 ON N FLA AVE -- Copy of letter sent to H.D.I purchased two doors by special order (quote #173600) on 10/31/04. the estimated delivery lead time of two weeks was specified on the quote. Shortly prior to the expected delivery date, I called only to find out that they were not in stock and there would be approximately another week delay. one week later one of the doors arrived but I was given no explanation as to the whereabouts of the other door. the stores' response at that time was that they would check into it and call me back to advise me on the next course of action. I waited for one week and returned to the store to speak with a manager who said he would call me the following Monday with an update. I suppose the manager used his authority to direct another to call and leave a message on my answering machine telling me my door was lost rather than call himself on the cell # I left him. It was explained that they would reorder the door and get it ASAP. I went to the store today to verify that the order was on track. An associate was kind enough to place a call to the supplier to verify the order only to find that the supplier had not received the fax from H.D. to reship the lost door. I have no idea when the door will arrive. please remember I did pay for that door one month ago. as i see it, you had my money to use as you please since my payment to you hasn't been passed to your supplier. If I were to multiply this times as many customers as H.D. has this # can easily grow. Don't you think so. I do want want you to know that you can check your records from my previous special order for interior doors. you will notice a similarity. the doors did not arrive time. several months prior i special ordered several ceiling fans which also did not arrive in time. Please note that in every case I paid upfront. if i could be so bold as to assume that there might a pattern of mishandling special orders at this particular outlet or has there been a change in corporate policy which conflicts with the large signs displayed at the store which promise delivery of special orders in 10 days. If true I would think there is a lot of money to be made on these simple mistakes. Fortunately I know this is not a corporate problem but rather a problem at one store. Maybe it is that Home Depot is convenient but any special orders should possibly be given to such stores as Lowes. Through these errors seem simple they have cost me time as well as money. I am hoping you can help me with a remedy at this juncture so I don't need to pursue another avenue for resolution.On 12-4-04 I again returned to H.D. to return one door which did come in but was the wrong size and pick up the lost door. The lost door came in and while in the store got damaged.I was told this was a small corner missing and would I still accept it. I asked this associate if I could install it it in there house.Well you know the answer. This time I was told they would reorder the doors again and would contact me Monday with details. Today Monday 12-6-04 I once again had to return to store to find out what had developed as they did not return call as promised. I got to meet another manager I had not met in all of my previous visits. I explained all over again the problems I had experienced and again was told he would call me tomarrow. Well I will not hold my breath. I personally believe there may be more people out there that H.D. is earning alot of interest on through deceptive practices. And to top it off I was told that there supplier is local ond that they have no control. They can only request that they recieve special orders ASAP but can do nothing else. This store is located in Tampa on Florida Ave. I believe the store # is 0279 DO NOT SPECIAL ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM.
