Wal-Mart Complaint - Careless Mechanic Does over $2000 Damage
MOREHEAD CITY, NORTH CAROLINA -- I went to wal-mart to get my oil changed. I gave them the keys to my car and went for a stroll about the store. I came back and paid for my oil change and took my car home. The road from my wal-mart to my has only a 35 mph speed limit but when I was driving home from school the next day in a 45 mph-55 mph zone the hood of the car which was unlatched since the mechanic had serviced it. The hood flew up and smashed the winshield of my honda civic into the car with me ripped fittings off the engine stretched the frame of the car where the hinges are attached and folded the hood backwards so far that it dented the roof. I contacted wal-mart and was transferred to their insurance company which refused to even acknowledge that there had been an accident. The damages to my car were extensive. and I even walked off with a few. The rear view mirror which is actually attached to the roof of the car flew off from the impact of the hood and struck me in my right eye which was blinded for a week until swelling went down. A few months later my left hand was giving me trouble. I was picking at the cuticle on my index finger and I discovered a shard off glass which i paid no mind to because I was helping clean up debris from hurricane charley but the next week I found an inch long shard of glass in my thumb with a partial vin number on it. That was what finally prompted me to complain in public!
