Family dollar Complaint - THIS COMPANY JUST DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES - EXPOSED TO CARBON MONOXIDE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS
EXPOSED TO CARBON MONOXIDE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS - Complaint
DECATUR,ILLINOIS, ILLINOIS -- IM REAL SAD FOR MY DAUGHTER THAT WORKED FOR THIS COMPANY FOR OVER A YEAR AND WOULD OF BEEN FOR AWHILE. SHE WAS AN ASST. MANAGER FOR THIS COMPANY. SHE MADE A COMPLAINT LAST FEBUARY THAT THEIR WAS A GAS SMELL IN THE STORE THAT A EMPLOYEE AND CUSTOMERS WAS COMPLAINING OF SO SHE TOLD THE DM. ABOUT IT SHE GOT REAL SICK FOR A WEEK AND A HALF AND THEY WERE TRYING TO FIRE HER THIS GIRL NEVER CALLED OFF AND SHE WORKED OPEN TO CLOSE FOR TWO MONTHS. WELL WHEN SHE CAME BACK THE MANAGER THAT FILLED IN FROM ANOTHER STORE GOT SICK SOON AFTER, WELL THE STORE GOT A NEW STORE MANAGER AND SHE WAS CALLED OUT TO THE STORE ON HER DAY OFF BY ANOTHER EMPLOYEE BECAUSE OF A GAS SMELL SHE ALERTED THE MANGER AND HE CALLED MAITNENCE, WELL THEY SAID THE FURNACE WAS BROKE AND THAT HE WILL FIX IT, CAME BACK AND HE SAID HE COULD MAKE IT WORK, SHE SIGNED OF THE WORK ORDER AND DIDNT THINK NOTHING OF IT, THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS THE EMPLOYESS ARE GETTING SICK VOMITING, BURNING EYES, HARD TO CONCENTRATE, FORGETFULLNESS, AND HER HERT WAS RASING AND SHE HAD A BAD HEAD ACH, THEY WERE EVEN COUNTING THE DEPOSITS WRONG, SHE LOOKED SO SICK AND WHEN SHE CAME HOME ALL SHE WANTED TO DO IS SLEEP BUT EVERYONE WAS WHEN THEY STARTED COMPARING, THE NEXT MONTHS HEADACHS STARTED STRONGER SHE WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND THOUGHT, WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME I DONT REALY GET HEADACHS WHATS GOIN ON AND SHE WAS ALWAYS SICK LIKE SHE HAD A COLD, NOW BY THIS TIME THIS IS HER THIRD TIME SEEING THE DOCTOR HE THOUGHT SHE WAS SICK HAD A COLD AND WAS STREESED AT WORK, THE STORE HIRED MORE EMPLOYEES A NEW STORE MANAGER AND CASHIERS THEY WERE COMPLAINING OF THE GAS SMELL AND THEY TOO WAS GETTING SICK SHE TOLD THE MANAGER SHE ALERTED MAITNENCE AGAIN, THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG, WELL NOW EVERY ONE IS TAKING PILLS FOR THEIR HEADACH AND SHE HAD TO COVER A REGISTER SO A CASHIER COULD VOMIT, SHE WAS CALLED OUT AGAIN TO GO BACK TO THE STORE ON HER DAY OFF BECAUSE OF THE SMELL, SHE CALLED HER MANAGER AND SHE CALLED THE DM HE SAID CALL MAITNENCE SO THEY CAME BACK OUT AND SAID THE LIGHT BLEW OUT SHE SAID SHES SMELLN THE GAS RIGHT NOW HE SAID HE DONT SMELL IT AND SHE SAID HER EYES WERE LIKE ON FIRE AND HE HEAD FELT SO HEAVY AND FOGY AND HE LEFT, MY DAUGHTER WAS CALLED OUT THE NEXT DAY ABOUT THE SMELL FROM THE MANAGER AND SHE TOLD HER THAT SHE WANTED TO TURN IN HER KEYS BECAUSE SHE NEEDED TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HER, SHE SAID SHE CALLED THE DM AND HE SAID CALL MAITNENCE BACK OUT , SO WHEN SHE WENT IN THEY WERE THEIR AGAIN AND SAID WE NEED A NEW UNIT BUT THEY ARE REJECTING IT BECAUSE THEY ARE BUILDING A NEW STORE SO SHE SAID WELL WHATS THAT SMELL HE SAID HE FIXED IT, AND SHE SAID I CANT BELIEVE THAT U CANT SMELL IT, MY DAUGHTER GOT UP EVERY DAY WITH A MIGRAINE AND WITH A BURNING SENSATION ON HER LEFTSIDE OF HER HEAD AND FACE HER EYES ARE SENSITIVE TO LIGHT, FOUR DAYS LATER SHE GETS A CALL BY HER MANAGER AND SAID SHE HAD TO COME IN AND OPEN BECAUSE SHE WAS BEING RUSHED IN TO THE HOSP. SO SHE WENT IN AND OPENED EVERYONE JUST HAVNT BEEN FEELN RIGHT I CALLED CORP. ABOUT THIS SMELL WELL THEY WERE CLOSED SO MY DAUGHTER CALLED THE FIREDEPT. THEY CAME AND TOLD HER TO CLOSE THE STORE DOWN AND THE GAS COMPANY CAME IN AND TURNED OFF THE GAS THIS STORE DIDNT NOT HAVE ANY SMOKE DETECTORS OR CO DETECTORS THEIR WAS A LEVEL OF CO THE FURNACE AND A WATER HEATER SHOOTING OUT GAS THEY HAD FIVE MULTI. GAS LEAKS THEY WERE TOLD THAT THEY COULDNT REOPEN TILL IT WAS FIX, MY DAUGHTER WENT TO THE HOS. AND THEIR WAS CO IN THE BLOOD THE NEXT DAY THEY MADE HER EMPLOYEES WORL WITH NO GAS IT WAS FREEZING NO HEAT THEY WANTED THE EMPLOYEES TO GET SWEATSHIRTS AND GLOVES TO STAY WARM, THIS COMPANY IS THAT GREEDY, THIS COMPANY NEW MY DAUGHTER WAS A GREAT EMPLOYEE THEY GAVE HER TWO RAISES EVERYONE LOVED HER, SHE THOUGHT IT WAS WRONG TO WORK THEM LIKE THAT SO SHE CALLED THE FIRE DEPT. AGAIN AND THEY TOLD HER THAT WAS HUMANE THEN THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO VENT THE STORE OUT, MY DAUGHTER WAS TRYING A MED. THAT THE DOCTOR PUT HER ON THREE DIFFERENT TYPES FOR HER HEAD IT WAS MAKING HER SO SICK, SHE TRIED GOIN BACK TO WORK, AND SHE FELT THAT IN HER CONDITION THAT SHE COULDNT RUN THE STORES ASSETS SHE WAS COUNTING CHANGE WRONG, FORGETTING THE SAFE COMBO, AND FELT LIKE HER BRAIN WAS NOT FUNCTIONING RIGHT, WORKMANSCOMP CALLED TOOK HER INTERVIEW AND EXCEPTED HER CLAIM OF AN INJURY THEN WHEN SHE SEEN HER SPECIALIST AND HE WANTED TEST DONE AND TO PUT HER ON A DIFFERENT MIGRAINE MEDICINE THEY JUST DENIED HER AFTER PAYING ONE MEDICINE AND FOUR DOCTOR VISITS. MY DAUGHTER PUT EVERYTHING AND TRUSTED THIS COMPANY AND THE MAITNENCE. SHES ONLY THIRTY AND SHE WAS FINE BEFORE ALL THIS SHE DIDNT SEE HER DOCTOR TWO YEARS PRIOR TO THAT CRAP WHEN SHE FIRST GOT SICK I WANNA KNOW WHY U DID THIS TO HER AFTER ALL SHE DID FOR YOUR COMPANY AND MORE, NO APOLOGY NO NOTHING, EVERYONE THAT WORKED THEIR NEEDS ONE THEY ALL GOT SICK

There may well be a gas problem but - just for the record - carbon monoxide is odorless.

for the record yea u rite but their was two readings done for carbon monoxide, either or my daughter is not the same, if u think about it she worked over forty hours a week sweating inhaling that crap she said it was worse when she stocked certain things like perfume, chemicals, anything that had certain smell, look this is to let people be aware of whats going on , just because u work for a company doest mean u follow the chain of command to keep something like that hush hush, their is more to this story, when something like this happens u call the proper authorities. they did not want her to call them they wanted her to wait till corp. got back in touch wit her this was Saturday they weren't open till that monday, its not hard to prove when u have all the documents and statements from her doctors . these companies need to be held responsible u only have one life why should she pay the price for these people that are heartless,a greedy company that could of paid to get their furnace fixed and everything else with all the money that they make , what makes it so odd why would they put in a smoke and co detectors afterwards then the landlord went behind them and put their own in

did her Docs say she had Carbon Monoxide poisoning? there is a pretty standard treatment for that - did she receive special treatment for CO poisonin?

This should be fairly routine for any lawyer. This is what's called a class action lawsuit. If all the workers reported the same symptoms over and over again, and have medical records to prove such, and nothing was done to properly resolve this issue, then it should be a pretty open and shut case. Period. You will have to convince everyone involved to file a case with you. Some may not be willing to lose their current job position however. That in itself is another lawsuit, but it's tough going to court and litigating for several months and even years, with no current means of financial support. I truly wish you the best!

indeed i would say use as many medical documents as possible for the case.
and if anyone is still working there... i'd say just bring in a CO detector. especially if there have been furnace issues.
because... if anyone is still working there, that detector can be a life saver.

to answer inat ? yes they did , but their is no treatment from chronic poisoning they treated her the day that the fire dept. shut the store down and said that everyone needs to be checked out , the other employee was diagnosed when she was rushed to the er by ambulance of exposed to natural gas and co the same went for my daughter and the other employee, they all inquired lawyers but i guess the lawyers didn't take them on unless they had to have surgery, but my daughter did get a lawyer from out of town she did let the other know but i guess they didn't want to fight the employee that got rushed to the er still has migraines really bad to where she stepped down and took less hours due to her injuries, my daughter was seen all last year by the doctor to see what was going on with her
