Sears Complaint - Sears Doesn't Stand by What They Sell You
SAINT JOHN, NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA -- When we purchased our washing machine, we explained to the salesman at Sears (Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada), that because of my son's allergies to dust mites, we needed a washer that had very hot water. As a result of his recommendation, we purchased the Maytag.
We had it for a while. Then I had to grab something out of the washing machine while it was filled with hot water. I cautiously put my hand in, expecting hot water! Imagine my surprise when it wasn't even warm water. Maytag's hot was actually coolish side of warm.
I had the repair man from Sears in to fix it. And he wouldn't do anything without Maytag's okay. Voiced complaints. Tried to get numbers from Maytag as to what temperature hot should be. No answers despite repeated attempts.
Decided to make a temperature chart (using my trusty cooking thermometer). It turned out that:
- Hot was on the cool side of warm.
- Warm was the same temperature as cool.
- Cold was, surprisingly, cold.
Got the repair man back again. Again, would not repair it even though the sales person had sold us it knowing we needed hot water to properly wash away the dust mite droppings.
Again, tried to contact Maytag. Same non-answers and no response to complaints.
Turns out neither company stands by their product.
We've now got several other appliances that need replacing. Guess what? We're not purchasing from Sears or Maytag/Whirlpool. And we're telling all the people we know that Maytag sucks and Sears sucks.
