Target Compliment - Super service at a Super Target
Yesterday, 5/18/10, at 2:00PM, I visited the Target store located at Coolidge Hwy. and Maple Rd. in Troy in search of a microwave oven they had on sale in the flier included with my weekend newspaper.
On the road to recovery from a herniated disc ‘episode,’ I stopped at the Customer Service desk upon entering the store to see if I could get assistance with loading the box in my car if I felt it was a bit too heavy for me to attempt so soon. The young lady cheerfully told me I should make that request upon check out and someone would help me. She did not question why a seemingly able-bodied, quite healthy looking individual would need assistance.
I chose a couple of items to buy before looking at the ovens. I was surprised to find the box was quite a bit larger and heavier than previous ovens I purchased. I expected there would be a slight difference since it was a step up in size to what I bought in the past.
After checking out my few items, I returned to Customer Service. The young lady I had spoken with earlier was not there, so I spoke to a young man who was also at the desk on my first visit. He asked me to wait a moment while he went to find someone to take care of the desk and he’d be right with me.
He grabbed a shopping cart and the two of us went to get the oven. He said he could handle the transaction at the Customer Service desk, thus eliminating the wait in a check out lane.
He instructed me to pull up my car to the store entrance and he’d be out with my package. In one quick motion, he had the box in the front seat of my car. (I drive a sports car. The trunk is just large enough to hold a six-pack cooler and bag of potato chips.) He questioned if I’d be able to handle the oven when I got home. I replied I had made arrangements with someone in my building to give me a hand when I got home.
The gentleman did not have a name printed on the tag he wore. During our walk to the microwave oven section, I found he was at this location only temporarily. His usual store is in the Northland Shopping Center in Southfield, quite a distance from this one.
By sending a copy of this letter to the Troy Target store manager, I hope they can determine who this individual is and express my thanks for the cheerful assistance given me.
