Chrysler-Jeep Complaint - Jeep Compass and its Transmission
I purchased a 2007 Jeep Compass with only 14k miles on it... was very happy. Two weeks ago the transmission failed! I called the company to check warranty status and was told that my warranty expired at 36k, I have 39k on the transmission! I am still within the time limit of the warranty but out of miles.
This is not a transmission that can be rebuilt; it must be replaced. It will cost $5200! The company flat out refused to assist in anyway. Even though this is my second Jeep! Their reason was that I did not have my car serviced at their garage or did not purchase an extended warranty. I didn't think I needed to purchase an extended warranty on a transmission! I didn't think that the transmission would drop out after only 39k miles! I might of had my car serviced at their garage if they didn't charge so much to do it.
When I went into the dealership to have the work done, I was told that this transmission was on back order! That suggests there are more people experiences this type of problems! How many people have to get there transmission replaced at $5k for Chrysler to recall?
Needless to say, I will never purchase a Chrysler auto again! Shame on the corporation! This is just plain wrong.
