Bob's Discount Furniture Compliment - Surprisingly great experience
BROOKFIELD, CONNECTICUT -- On a whim, I visited the Bob's Furniture store in Brookfield Connecticut. I was moving into a new apartment and wanted a cheap, but nice sofa and loveseat. I had seen the commercials on TV and had always written them off as a cheap furnitore store with gross fabrics and out of date furniture. I was really surprised when I walked into the store. Although some of the furniture was tacky and old-fashioned, I was pleasantly surprised by the array of modern looking pieces. I sat on at least 10 couches and was also surprised at how comfortable they were and at the quality of the fabric (admittedly, it's not at the level of a Crate & Barell or Pottery Barn) for the price. I found a great sofa and loveseat combo for about $1000 and walked out planning to buy it later that week. The night before I was about to order the sofas, I went online to read some reviews. I was horrified at the amount of negative reviews that there were-- all ranging from complaints about the delivery to the quality of the furniture. I was so disappointed, because I had been so excited about the couches. I ended up calling the store and confronting them about the reviews I had read. He provided some interesting points (the people who write reviews tend to be the people who have issues and not the people who have good experiences/Bobs sells such a high volume of furniture so will naturally have more reviews/the furniture does come from a warehouse so you do run the risk of it being damaged, but they will guarantee to replace it as soon as possible) and I felt right about it. I am not a gullible person and am pretty savvy when it comes to shopping, and I had a good feeling about the couches. They came on time, as promised. They were not damaged in any way. The delivery men were willing to carry them up our 6 flights of stairs and were quick and polite. The couches are incredibly comfortable and look great. I've had them for a month now and they are still comfortable. I don't think I'll have them for more than a few years, but for the price I paid ($1200 after tax and delivery), it was well worth it. I say, if you have a good experience in the store, you should trust your instincts and go with it.
