Savannah Tire Brake and Alignment Center-Richmond Hill, GA Complaint - Competent? - fuel pump repair

Review by janmar on 2010-05-21
RICHMOND HILL, GEORGIA -- Was passing through town on a Friday, travelling with my children from Florida to Maryland, when car broke down. Had car towed to shop and after being told fuel pump needed, had fuel pump replaced by shop. After getting back on the highway, noticed air conditioner was not blowing out of vents as before. Air was blowing out of defrost vents. Figured I'd stop back through on way home. On Sunday morning, car would not start. Had towed to another repair shop. After being told I needed a fuel pump AGAIN, work was done. Advised by second repair shop that original shop put in a Ford Explorer fuel pump, not the one for my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. Fuel filter, which was also replaced by original shop, had to be replaced due to being clogged, per repair shop. Also fuel switch had to be replaced. Was out of car a total of 4 days due to negligence of original shop. After finally speaking with someone in their corporate office, they only offered the reimbursement of the difference I had to pay second shop.
Advised they gave correct info to dealer for part. Right. When I contacted several auto part stores to inquire about cost of part, I was told that fuel filter for my vehicle was not in stock and would have to be ordered and would take 1-2 days. Even second shop had to order part and wait for it to come in.
