DirecTV Inc Informative - Resolutions to your problems
I wanted to throw my 2¢ in for all the complaints about DTV. I had been a customer for several years (10+ I believe) and after getting married had canceled my DTV account since my new husband has cable. Our cable bills seem to be going through the roof, nearly $100 per month for one box, a second TV in the bedroom (no converter for it though) and DVR service. We don't have movie channels, etc., just fairly basic service, maybe one step up from that. Anyway, thought I'd check out what you all are saying about DTV before making the decision to go back and found some real horror stories. So sorry for you all, but the help I want to offer is there is something you can do, though you may not get your particular problem resolved, or recoup any payments, etc., you will at least get some peace of mind that you have done something to help deter bad consumer service for others in the future. You can write a letter, possibly even by email, to your state Attorney General and Consumer Advocates. Their job is to make sure that companies within their states are ethical and law biding. In many cases an individual is likely dealing with not only DTV but also a local cable/satellite installer. So they will need to report both.
I am taking a second look at alternative cable service and thank you all for sharing your experiences so that I can make a sensible consumer decision.
