Insurance Quote Information Complaint - Spam - Affordable Insurance

Review by marine engineer on 2010-05-22
It came up on my homepage as a service. So I tried to find out how affordable it was. Nope. All it said was over 64&1/2 for each co. Was not coverable. Fine. So I thought. But now I can't get rid of them my e-mail. The unsubscribe is a fake. And it is not a public information. It is an agent for a lot of companys. They snuck it in under news. Finding anything honest today is nearly impossible. The word free should be struck from the dictionary. And anyone who believes "free shipping" is mentally unbalanced.

You could try marking it as spam, and any other's related to it should automatically receive the same tag and protection. If not, do what I did. Stop responding or even opening them. Ignore them completely for about 3-4 wks and they usually stop. Worst case, and I've had to do it once as one of life's lessons, but you may have to just create a new account. Some people create a "junk" account that they only keep open for such items and cheezy sign up promotions, etc...Hope this helps!

If you didn't ask for the email in the first place, "unsubscribe" is actually the LAST thing you should do.

All it does is tell the spammers, "Hey this is a working email address!"
which means they mail you more.

J4A is right - send it to spam

Thanks for the warning. I've been very fortunate in that I seldom receive any spam on my three email accounts and they usually go directly to my junk box, as it's called on MSN. I'm sure I miss out on a lot but I never click on anything that pops up period. Once one of these sleazy companies gets your address you're stuck until it eventually goes away and then they sell your address to another company. Many times an individual can figure out how it started as you did in your case.

Good reminders Justice and Pepper. As with a company fax machine, never unsubscribe or acknowledge it. That only verifies it is a correct fax number or in your case a correct email address.
