DirecTV Inc Complaint - So many issues, incapable customer service reps, false promises, horrible reception
I signed up for my direct TV service when I moved into my new apartment. Knowing I was only going to be staying in this apartment for a year, I would have never initially signed up for the service if I knew I was agreeing to a 3 YEAR contract. I attempted to cancel my service three months into my contract, and was informed I was terminating a three-year commitment and would be charged $20 per month to cancel. I was willing to eat the loss and be done with the company, however I received a "please stay with us" call a few days later. The representative informed me that I could reinstate my service and receive a $100 credit, free showtime for 3 months, and (most importantly) COULD CANCEL MY SERVICE AT ANY TIME WITH NO ADDITIONAL TERMINATION FEE.
I made positively sure that this was the case and talked with an additional representative. Today, 6+ months later, I called to cancel my service as I would be moving out of my apartment and was told that I still had a contract until August 2011.
The horriblely deceptive customer service was bad enough, but I also had to deal with my cable cutting out almost daily, despite my yard having two dishes in it. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR DIRECT TV! They will swindle you and take advantage of your good nature.
