Priceline.com Complaint - Priceline Reservation/Quoted price mean nothing
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- We made a reservation through Priceline for a compact car with good mileage because we had a 1300 mile trip planned. The cost quoted was $762.89. On arrival, we were told they had no compacts to give us and Dollar tried to give us a Jeep with poor mileage. We refused and they said the only car left available was a Ford Mustang, which got better mileage than the Jeep, but had terrible luggage space. Then they told us North Carolina law required the renter to pay a "loss of use" fee (the daily rental charge) if the car was in the shop for repairs. Since it was 10 PM we couldn't check with our insurance company to see if they covered that, so we ended up buying additional insurance for $359.85.
1. They didn't have available the car we reserved;
2. The car we received got worse mileage and our third person had to sit in the back seat with a suitcase;
3. We paid $359.85 more than we were told we would; and
4. We got worse mileage (so we spent more money on gas), than anticipated.
All this equals a mad customer and rotten recommendations for Priceline and Dollar Car Rentals.
