Account Now Complaint - Account Now Froze my account and WONT give back my money!

SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIA -- Account Now froze my account on Monday, May 24,2010. When I called I was told it was frozen due to "suspicious activity" on my account. I had received a refund on my card that they flagged my account for. I was asked to fax in documents, which I promptly did. I received a fax confirmatioon Tuesday morning from sending them in to Acct. Now. I was told that my funds would be released by Wednesday morning, they were not. I called, a representative in the risk deptartment informed me that they were in review and would be released to me that afternoon. They were not.
I called this morning (Thursday, May 27) I was AGAIN told that they were in review. I was also told that my fax hadn't been received until Wednesday even though I discussed the fax with a representative on Tuesay! So they just bought themselves another 24 hours with my money....I am 6 months pregnant and high risk. As of now I have no money, no gas, and my phone bill that is usually debited from my account now card was unable to process because of this. We are coming up on a holiday weekend, I rescheduled my ultrasound appt 3 times this week because I was promised that my money would be available. Every representative I talk to tells me something different. I am terrified of being home on a 3 day weekend without ANY money and my phone being disconnected. This company is shady, I feel like they are stealing from me.

Never heard of Account Now, but I agree they sound shady. As soon as this is resolved, you should consider taking your business elsewhere. Hopefully you have friends or family that can help out if you do get stuck this weekend.

Account Now is one of those pre-paid Visa cards. Why anyone puts their money in such high risk places is amazing. Their marketing must be the cat's meow.

missfahie, as soon as you get your money, RUN. Shed these jerk-weed scumbags and find yourself a credit union or a LOCAL bank.

From the Terms and Conditions they appear to pretty much have the ability to clean you out with phone call fees and closing the account fees. Shed 'em FAST!

Other Fees may apply:
Bank Teller Cash Advance: $4.95. Express delivery charge: $40. Emergency wire fee: Not supported. Bill Pay Stop Payment $20. Card Fulfillment: $10. Non-Online Bill Pay Check Processing including but not limited to unauthorized debit transactions using direct deposit number such as paper checks, ACH debits, check-by-phone or pre-authorized payments: $5. Special research and documentation fee (may include authorization hold removal, account verification, account balancing, false claims, etc): Up to $50. Currency conversion: 2.95% of transaction amount after conversion. If you decide to close your account and request a check to bring your balance to zero, a $15.95 check fee will be applied.

Ive already filed a complaint with the BBB, I'll give them until this evening at closing time to have my money available. as soon as I get it Im taking my money out and closing this horrible account! I should have read the reviews first,now that I research it ( 3 years later) I see sooo many complaints. They have NO concern for the fact that Im pregnant, unable to get to the doctor, pay my phone bill. I was shocked at how cold their customer service was. What a nightmare.
