Priceline.com Complaint - Rip-off and scam
Today, I was looking at hotels available through Priceline.com for an upcoming trip to Newport, RI. I looked at the hotels available in the Goat Island area. I looked for 4 stars and there weren't any hotels listed. I went to the 3 1/2 stars and found that there were 3 hotels in that category. I checked to see what the hotels were: 1. Viking Hotel 2. Marriott 3. Hyatt on Goat Island. I decided to bid on that category. Well, I got a hotel in another area. It wasn't even listed. We are traveling with another couple who bid and got the Hyatt. When I called Priceline, they put me on hold and said they were checking. While I was on hold, a 4th hotel appeared in the 3 1/2 stars category. It was the hotel I'd just gotten. This hotel isn't even in the same town. Priceline said there is nothing they can do. I've contacted AMEX and was told to contest the charges as soon as they are posted to my account within the next day or 2. This was a total scam. Customer service at Priceline is a joke. When I saw that a 4th hotel had been added to the 3 1/2 star category while I was holding, I was furious. The guy on the phone just kept saying that there wasn't anything I could do.
