Orbitz Complaint - Low Price Assurance Scam
You have about as much chance of hitting the lottery as collecting on the low price assurance Orbitz pushes. I booked a round trip ticket from Chicago to Seattle on May 31st for $585. On June 1st, Orbitz sent me their twice a day email and just for the heck of it, I clicked on the Chicago/Seattle deal and the exact same flights and schedule I booked the day before for $585 is offered at $460.
I called the customer service number and with no delay at all, I got a very nice service representative who explained to me that if someone else booked exactly the same combination of flights and ticket classes on the same travel days, Orbitz was going to refund me $120. I asked him if that translated into, "I'm screwed," and he agreed that was most likely the case. I thanked him very much for clarifying the situation and told him I would keep this conversation in mind when I was booking my next flights in a week or two.
Needless to say, I will not be using Orbitz any time in the near future.
