Nextel Complaint - poor phone service and horrible customer service
KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN -- This letter is intended to share the awful time I have had with Nextel as well as to inform some of you why you have experienced the same problems. Nextel has so many problems with their system that I am amazed that it even works at all. Let me tell you why. Nextel has a very small portion of the cell phone bandwidth,but they have a large portion of the customers. This means they don't have enough channels to handle all of the call volume. To try and band-aid this problem what they do is they keep turning down the power on their sites and add more and more sites that cover small areas. This in theory allows them to re-use channels at more and more sites in an attempt to handle the call volume. It doesn't work well at all. What ends up happening is your phone is trying to decide what cell site to pick up when it is recieving signals from 10 different sites. This causes your phone to go from site to site etc. the result is your antenna signal bouncing from full to some to none etc. I have a Nextel site less than 1 mile from my house and my phone "bounces" all over the map and more often than not says no service. They have the worst service in the industry. I am sure that you just like myself are so sick and tired of seeing the "user not available" or "please try again" messages on your phone you just want to throw it out the window. To make matters even worse if you are under a service contract and try to complain THEY DON'T CARE! They tell you somone will call you back well don't hold your breath! Or the other famous one "I'm sorry a supervisor isn't available and no I can't give you a number for one" THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE HISTORY OF BUSINESS! I wish all of the tens of thousands of people who got sucked into a contract with Nextel could get together and form a giant class action suit to get us out of our service contracts and get our money back!
