DirecTV Inc Complaint - Online Offers R Fraudulent-They set U up 2 Bleed You Dry
This company should be investigated by the FCC and whomever else. I tried to sign up and decided against it. Then I quickly got a phone call from my sign up info. Offered an additional discount for me to sign up. Stupidly, I did. Installation and service was delayed until mid month and cancelled out of frustration at the delays after waiting two half days with no shows. My room mate wanted the service so asked them to switch to his name. They agreed to give him the same deal and take my name off.
Surprisingly, a bill came at the end of the month for a full month's service, in my room mate's name, and at $80 instead of the $44 in my shopping cart _ I still have that print out. When he called to straighten it out, we found out I was still responsible. I questioned being billed at all, and also the doubling of the amount, and them wanting a full month's fees for half a month's service. Was told that this is how they do it. Nothing is pro rated. What crookery.
ON top of that, was also told that until I submitted a rebate form, I would have to pay the $80 per month. The rebate form takes 12 weeks to process, and already three bills have been issued since March at $80 per month. I tried to cancel again and was told I was under contract and could not cancel. I did not sign any paperwork with these people, furthermore, it is clear that I tried to cancel even before installation.
So why am I being gouged at $ eighty dollars per month for their half-assed service?
By my calculations, I would have paid for a full year at the original $44 by the time the rebate comes through. I hope likeminded people out there will join me in suing these crooks, and I hope others will bouycott their service. IT IS NOT WHAT THEY ADVERTISE at all. How can they claim a two year contract when I was not even present for the installation and signed nothing. This is fraudulent in everyway. Also, anytime a company doing business regularly in your area tells you they don't know what taxes are going to be, DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. It should be legally required that all service providers state UPFRONT what the taxes will be. It's a simple thing to do.
