Nationwide Corporation Complaint - Scammers - Auto Insurance
Auto Insurance - Complaint
Review by FrThomas on 2010-06-03
Got suckered in by the advertisements on television, and bought an insurance policy from Nationwide. Within the next 30 days, THEY cancelled the policy, and sent us a refund check for 140 dollars. So...thought, well, guess that Nationwide is an ok company, ending us the balance of the money we paid for the policy.
However...now I get calls from a collection agency, demanding 67.00 dollars. I asked them what this money was for ? Cancellation of the policy. I was astonished...THEY cancelled the policy, not me. Guess this is one way to scam off the public, cancel the policies, then charge the customers for the cancellation.
I ask the callers why did you send me a refund check, IF you want wanted 67.00 dollars from me ? Different departments...in other words, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
My guess is that this way, they can tack on additional charges as the customer wrangles with them over the issue, and threaten to put a ding on the credit reports.
Although because of this issue, I guess do have to say thanks to Nationwide, had to look for new auto insurance, and found the same coverage at a far less price.
