DirecTV Inc Complaint - Beware of $50 "Extra Fee" -- UNDISCLOSED
I signed up for DIRECTV with the promise of future Multi Room Viewing service. They finally released it in May and I called to sign up for it. It seemed to be a bargain -- $3 a month, and they tell you to sign up online.
Well...turns out nobody is ELIGIBLE, the CSR stated that everybody has to call for it because of the extra equipment required. Nothing in their advertising states this extra $150, 100 for parts, and 50 for the installer fee will be required. I convinced myself to take it.
Now for the body blow. I was told because I'm still a "new" customer, they would assess me a fee of $50 on top of this. I was told "you don't have a credit history with DIRECTV". Is that what they call it? Sounds more like a money grab from customers who are too new to just walk cancel and walk away. They will lose future revenue from me for $50 -- which was UNDISCLOSED prior to the contract being made? I will gladly go to another provider when my contract is up next year, and relay my experience to every single place on the Internet. Same with dealing with the FTC and FCC -- a complaint will be filed in short order. Congress is in a regulating mood, and I'd love to see a class-action suit or severe governmental smackdown happen.
I was on the phone with a representative to express my views, but the phone conveniently went dead. Uh Huh. They made their views very clear.
