usaphotonation.com Complaint - Lies and High Sales Pressure - Camcorder

Camcorder - Complaint
Review by Mina on 2004-12-22
I purchased a Sony Handycam Camcorder DVD 201 on 12/20/04 online at usaphotonation.com for $529.00. The price was $100 cheaper than other web sites. A salesman called me back the same day and asked for my 4 digit amex code, then proceeded to tell me what a great camcorder I had just purchased. He then told me that he was surprised that I did not purchased the kit which is needed if I wanted the camera to work. The kit + the camera would be only $799.00. I told him I did not need a kit. He then told me that without the kit, my camera would not work since the kit would provide the battery and the charger. I told him that I thought I was purchasing a camcorder that was inclusive of all the essential accessories to operate it and that I wanted to cancel my order. He then was very rude and told me fine, I will cancel your order and hung up on me. I called the company back immediately to ask for a confirmation number to insure that my order was canceled. I had the same salesman who told me my account was canceled. I attempted to ask if this would mean I had to pay the 7% penalty for canceling the order (I read their policy and was concerned about this penalty) but the salesman hung up on me before I had a chance to ask. This the worst online purchase experience I've had.

After I found about this scam website, I called them to cancel my order. I found out the following information before I canceled:

1. If you buy a camera, you will only get the camera. No battery, USB cable, Memory Card. You get nothing only the camera!

2. To get the stuff that it normally ships with, you have to buy it.

3. I was told by their sales rep that "I hope you can read Japanese be the manual is in Japanese". I could pay for an "upgrade package" that would be in English.

I beg you. Stay away from this scam website.
