Cricket Wireless Complaint - Big Corporation Victimizes Ailing Old Woman
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- I'm used to getting the run around from big companies but this takes the cake.
I've been a Cricket customer for 8 years. Last year, I opened a new account for myself and gave my old phone to my elderly mother so she would have a way to contact me when she was finished with her chemo treatments. Yes, she has cancer.
Last month, I canceled that account as the phone was barely working and my mother opted to go with another company who offered a low rate for the few minutes she would need. Because the line was still in my name, I had to cancel the account myself.
While I was on the line, the representative assured me he was canceling the account as we spoke. I checked and the phone was, indeed, disconnected. We put the phone aside and forgot about it.
This month, the monthly fee was withdrawn again from my mother's account. It caused an overdraft of her bank account. When she found and checked the phone...it was ON! I called to cancel AGAIN and get a refund. I was told that "it is not our policy to issue refunds". Even when it is THEIR mistake?!? I told the rep/supervisor I wanted the number for corporate because this was not going to fly with me.
Get this...after confirming the number he gave me 3 times, it turns out that he gave me a disconnected number!!! Did he not realize that I could find the info myself online?
I feel really badly for Cricket if $46 from an ill woman on a fixed income is that important to them that it will make their business crumble to refund it due to their shady business practices.
But, I don't feel so badly that I won't do everything I can to let YOU know to avoid this company like the plague. In fact, I plan to cancel my second account with them as soon as I set up with another company.
