Staples Complaint - Don't get suckered into any Staples warranty
SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA -- I purchased an inexpensive color HP printer from Staples 11 months ago. The clerk tempted me with a warranty offer. He said for $14.95 If ANYTHING went wrong with the printer in two years, just bring it to the store and they would replace it with the same printer or one of greater value if they didn't have that model. It sounded too good to pass up. Sure enough the printer started to act up at 10 months. I returned to the store with it and was told that that was no longer the policy and I would have to call an 800 number. I called from the store and after 20 minutes, four different people, who either had the volume turned way down or spoke such broken English I couldn't understand them, it became obvious that I was not going to get a replacement. I hung up. The manager(who could care less) then offered me an in-store coupon. Which meant I was out the cost of the warranty and a $20 cable I had to buy for the first one. They truly don't really care about anything but their own bottom line. I will find another source to get the $300 to $400 worth of office supplies I need yearly. PS, I eventually was helped by HP. They sent me a replacement with little trouble.
