Sears Informative - Why NOT to shop SEARS
DUNNELLON, FLORIDA -- We always try to support LOCAL businesses, but when it comes to shopping a Sears Satellite store, that is next to impossible. We stopped by our LOCAL Sears satellite store where the OWNER, Mr. Khoury greeted us with the standard Walmart greeting then quickly dissappeared. I told the salesperson exactly which machine I wanted to buy and that HD had it for $398 and would they meet the price. Nope because 'certain conditions' had to be met to get the 'Delivery/haulaway DEBIT card' and since $399 is the threshold for that condition...sorry, but we cannot meet the deal. So, I drove approx. 20 miles to GET the HD deal with FREE upfront delivery/haulaway with NO debit card hassle or rebate waiting time, yada yada.
Sears actually DISCOURAGES purchases. Its easy to see WHY this satellite store Isn't making it and WHO is to blame. That Owner has the greatest risk and he is either unwilling or not clever enough to equal the competition, instead by skirting around the policy by $1. My question would be directly to him saying "Duh, WHY didn't you say:Yes, I can meet that deal by charging you $399, so you qualify for the free ship/haulaway..", reach in his pocket and give the customer a $1 bill. THAT would have been the ideal way to Win the customer, make the sale".. not too smart being slaves to their own failed system. I'm sure others of you have similar stories to tell about the Sears 'chicanery' policies.
