Jackson-Hewitt Complaint - Poor customer service, poor tax preparation

Review by tfeely on 2010-06-13
TACOMA, WASHINGTON -- The office shoved a ream of forms to initial, and I signed, not fully reading all the text. When I arrived home, I discovered that I must return to their office to get my refund, They had charged me $30 for an out of state bank for fees that I still don't fully understand, and refused to respond to my complaints, saying the forms were already signed and they could do nothing.

And that is their fault? Why didn't you read what you were signing and ask questions while going through the process?

I'm not sure why you think this is their fault, all because you did not read what you were signing. Just because, as you put it, they shoved of ream of paperwork at you, does not mean you should just hurry up and sign everything. They would of answered and explained what you did not understand. And if they did not not want to explain, then don't sign. No matter what it is, if you are signing a document, you SHOULD always read it, before adding your signature. That signature is a binding agreement to what you signed. Saying I didn't read it, is not an excuse. Look at the brightside, you are getting a refund. You would be even more unhappy if you had to pay more taxes, after paying threw out the year.
