Toyota of North Charlotte, aka: Lake Norman Toyota Informative - Deceptive Practice
HUNTERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- On June 5, 2010 I saw a commercial for Toyota of North Charlotte, advertising new Toyota's at 0% financing. The dealership had not opened yet so I went to their website and looked at their internet "specials". I found the car that I was looking for and called the Internet Manager when the dealership opened. I spoke to him about a particular car, we discussed price as well as the 0% financing. The last thing I asked was if there was anything else I needed to know before I drove down there, I told him I did not like surprises. He assured me there would be none, that everything was exactly as he told me. Well...shock......there was. After driving the car we decided to purchase it. Suddenly, in order to get the 0% financing I had to add $2,000 back to the price of the car. SURPRISE! They told me there was a disclaimer on their website stating this and there probably is BUT I SPOKE to their Internet Manager, I did not READ their entire website and the IM said NOTHING about this...(remember I told him I did not like surprises?) They tried everything to get me to buy the car anyway but I refused. The one thing that they didn't even attempt was to bring their "Internet Manager" into the discussion and that's because he knew what he told me; it was just a lure to get me down there. I left this sorry dealership, drove back to my hometown and went straight to a reputable Toyota Dealership there (Mike Johnson Toyota - hooo-ra!), where BTW I PURCHASED a 2010 Corolla. I found out that day that "Toyota of North Charlotte" used to be called "Lake Norman Toyota'. Had I known that, I wouldn't have bothered to make the drive at all as I had experienced THEIR dishonesty years ago. No thanks, never again. Will stay completely away from this area for future car purchases and would advise everyone else to do the same.
