Haverty's Altamonte Springs, Fl location Complaint - Buyer Beware - Sectional Sofa

Review by Jill Koons on 2010-06-14
645 SR 436 ALTAMONTE SPGS, FLORIDA -- We selected a sectional sofa and purchased it at the point of sale desk
with a credit card. Four days later we get a call that the sofa did not
meet the Haverty's standards thus it is no longer available.

I mentioned I would come in as I was in the area to see if they can get
something close to what we were looking for. Turns out nothing on the
floor came close to the sectional, thus I requested the credit be entered
on my account. The office associate said we do not issue credits and that
Atlanta office does and there is no one assigned to the credit memo dept
and that they are not there now mind you this is between normal operating
hours 8 to 5. I called my Bank immediately to stop the near two thousand
dollar Visa charge, and they said that they would. Next\ thing I noticed
as I hung up the phone a salesman decided to call the local Police Dept
stating I was loud, when their was absolutely no one in front of me to
even apologize for the use of my credit line and that no pro active measure to even order something in lieu of the failed attempt to provide
good customer service. A magical purchase that left me disgusted and treated me so poorly that I have totally committed myself to blogging the
social networks with their horrible client commitment of excellence you
deserve for purchasing a furnishing. What is happening to being a respected merchant anymore. The banks should pull their flooring for
lack of commitment and lack of being courteous.

I would think you would be thankfull that Haverty's had the integrity to let you know of a substandard product and risk loosing a sale. Most companies would have delivered it and hoped when problems arose it was beyond the warranty period. As for the refund, yes it does suck, being in the furniture business this is not rare. I worked for a company in Mn. that credit card could not be made at the store level they had to come from corporate. You had to fill out a refund request form and send it via inter company mail. The customer did get the refund just not as fast as they thought. It seemed to work and the company is still in business and doing OK.
