Wells Fargo & Company Complaint - Pretty ruthless - Home Mortgage
PLANO, TEXAS -- Overall, I'd have to say Wells Fargo has been about average. It's our first home loan so I don't have anything to compare to. We had never been behind a great deal of time until recently following a surgery in which I had to be on reduced short term disability for 3 months after some chicanery with my doctor that caused the surgery to cost 3 times what my insurance company estimated. I'm a full time student, with a wife, two kids, and a 50-60 hour to week job. My wife was laid off by Dell nearly two years ago, but just finally picked up some work for the Census. We ended up a payment behind, and set up a payment plan which we followed until the last payment which we had to pay 10 days later than the plan said, but still within the same month. Unfortunately, my wife misunderstood me and over paid by $1000. This left us with zero funds to live on for the next 10 days.(yes, we are still that tight)
We talked to our bank, and Wells Fargo. The bank couldn't do anything, as it was a teller check. Wells Fargo, on the other hand, said they could refund the $1000 by direct deposit within 3 days. This was fine for us. So when the 3rd day comes, we get a call from Wells Fargo saying they now cannot refund the overpayment because technically we owe this months payment, as it was the 10th of the month. We were intending to pay that payment on the 24th, less than 30 days late, and then another the following paycheck(I have been working a ton of overtime).
I understand a companies need to be paid, but when they have just given us a payment plan, to turn around and act like this? From an industry that got us into this mess in the first place? This was never because of us being irresponsible, it was about another industry, healthcare insurance, being underhanded.
All through this period of rough times we have been paying off bills, student loans, etc. and are poised to be in pretty good shape by the end of the year, and I graduate in August.(but now can't buy my books for my last semester)
THANKS WELLS FARGO for helping the economy out !!!
