Spirit Airlines Complaint - Poor custom service - airline
I will NEVER fly Spirit Airlines again. In fact purely out of principal I would not fly with them if they gave me free seats. They missed an opportunity to shine, in a dark situation. The story: Spirit airlines, preemptively cancelled flights to "shield" their customers from a pending strike. We were to leave Las Vegas to Florida via Spirit Airlines. After 1 1/2 hrs on the phone they stated they could not do anything via phone, we had to go to the airport. At the airport, we had to run around to other ticket counters checking for other flights. Unfortunately the wait was so long, that by the time we ran from the available carrier back to spirit, waited for a customer service person, the flight was full. Repeat, Repeat, then got lucky when we caught the manager as she was walking by, told her we had 35 minutes before boarding another carrier, they were holding 3 seats for us. We demanded help, NOW! I will give that manager some credit, she did help us in a difficult situation, I do not remember her name in the melee. It is possible she was tired of hearing my girlfriend demanding help and making a scene at the counter. She would not just go away, as they appeared to hope for. Other customers on the same flight patiently waited for hours. They did not appear to make any flights to Florida that evening, as ours was one of the last out. The squeaky wheel got the oil in this case. On the return flight, from Florida Spirit again cancelled the flight. After over an hour on the phone, they would only refund the return tip. Hmm, wished they would have told me that they would absolutely not accommodate us onto another carrier for the return flight, we would have just cancelled in Las Vegas. Of course they did refund the cost of the return flight. Not much accommodation, figuring the hours wasted waiting and fighting with them, and the additional cost of last minute new flights home. Management needs to give their staff more tools for accommodating customers. I did not feel "shielded" as a spirit spokesperson had stated.
