Red Caboose Motel Complaint - Cleanliness and poor condition

Review by abbyding on 2010-06-16
RONKS, PENNSYLVANIA -- Our family traveled to Ronks, PA to attend Day out with Thomas. We found an adorable motel that had cabooses for rooms. We rented two, #42 and #39. When we entered #42 it smelled of STONG must and mold. The condition of this room other than the mold and must was ok. In caboose #39, there were stains and holes, that an adult male could put two hands in, in the drop ceiling and paneled walls. The bathroom had linoleum flooring missing showing the board floor, numerous broken off RUSTED nails in the walls and the shower had mold and orange scum throughout. We origanlly reserved the rooms for two nights but after the first we went to the owners at the front desk and told them that the conditions were unaceptable and we checked out. They said ok. They were not mean and neither were we. The reason we went to this motel was because of reviews saying they were clean. It is very upsetting the our rooms were in the condition that they were in. Especially with rusted broken off nails in the walls and having young children. That in itself is a danger. We were not expecting a high end hotel room. Just something that is clean and kept up and this was not.
