LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA -- My wife and I decided to rent three movies from Hollywood Video at 5570 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, SC to view over the Christmas holidays. Of the three, one was the "Manchurian Candidate." We were watching this movie and with about 15 to 20 minutes left, the movie froze. Nothing I could do would make it get past the "freeze" point. Keep in mind, that we had just watched two other movies with no problem. Well, the movies were due back today, 12/27, and I told the lady working about my problem. I told her about the freezing of the frame, etc. and that I would like a credit against my account. Well, I was told their policy did not allow them to credit my account but that I could get another copy of the movie to finish it. I decided that I did not want to get another copy to see the final 15 to 20 minutes of a crappy movie.
I understand that policy, but belive me, I have better things to do than to BS my way into a free movie. I decided to just leave, but before I did, the lady put the same exact movie I had a problem with back into rotation. I told her how I felt and that I would never rent anything again from Hollywood Video and I hope that nobody else does either.
I guess I will stick with "in Demand" movies. Heck, I don't even have to worry about defective movies that way.
Do me a favor. Boycott Hollywood Video.
**Update**- After contacting the appriopriate people, I am happy to say that Hollywood Video has handled this to my satisfaction. After more training, future managers will know how to handle my situation.
