AAA Complaint - AAA won't tow an F350 (not in Arkansas)
ARKANSAS -- 6-17-2010 my daughter was driving our 1996 F350 to work. While on Interstate 40 the right rear tire separated so she pulled over. There was major damage to the tailpipe, bent up into the wheel-well and damage to the fender. She called AAA and was told they do not tow F350s as they went over a certain weight limit. They would send a tow truck but she would have to pay. I called them and discussed the issue, and my husband spoke to them as well. They customer service person checked with a supervisor and subsequently told us they no longer tow F350s. I discussed this with the tow truck driver when he delivered the truck (on a flat bed tow vehicle- the same that they have used to tow our Bronco as they are 4 wheel drive) he said he had never heard that before, and that he tows heavier vehicles for AAA all the time. This truck is not a dually nor an extended cab, its not even a long bed. I have been a member since 1997 and have the AAA Premier plan. We have gone years without calling for service but last year we had to call them 4 times for flat tire issues on this particular vehicle. I have to wonder if that caused a 'flag' on our pickup, anyway, I have lost the peace of mind I had now knowing we can no longer rely on our AAA, I will be looking for another roadside assistance program. I can't have them arbitrarily decide they won't tow our Bronco either if the need arises.
