Kurtis Chervolet Morehead City, nc Informative - DEPRECIATION - 2002 TAHOE LS 2 WD

Review by Bennie on 2004-12-28
MOREHAED CITY, NORTH DAKOTA -- I BOUGHT A 02 TAHOE LS 2 WD 2I/2 YEARS AGO. I DECIDED TO TRADE FOR A 05. SAME DEALER. I WAS SUPPRIZED TO FIND OUT THAT THE TAHOE I PURCHASED FOR 38K WAS NOW ONLY WORTH 16K ON TRADE. IT HAD DEPRECIATED 22K$ IN VALVE. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD ONLY BRING 20K AT THE MOST PREOWNED. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED, NEVER SMOKED IN AND SERVICED FROM THE DEALER OF PURCHASE. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP IT FOR 2 YEARS AND THEY WOULD GIVE ME WHAT THEY OFFERED THEN ON A TRADE TODAY. BUYER BEWARE. WISH THEY HAD DEPRECIATED IT 22K$ UP FRONT. BY THEY WAY. IT ONLY HAS 26K MILES.

Tell the dealer to fckoff and you go ahead and sell the Tahoe yourself.

Yeah, that sounds about right, especially for a 2WD Tahoe. With the amount of miles you drive and considering how often you may trade, leasing a vehicle may be a viable solution for you (check out GM smart buy). Since the first year depreciation is the worst (On average 25%) you may also want to look into a pre-owned off lease vehicle (these are excellent buys considering that they are usually still under full manufacturers warranty, low miles, and have already taken the biggest depreciation hit). The "rule of thumb" is the more money you spend on a car, the more you will lose!!! Good Luck.

Do you wonder why these domestic cars have 5000 dollar rebates the day they roll off the transport trucks??? They are junk, and vastly overpriced which becomes apparent when you sell or trade in. Wake up.
