Home Depot Complaint - Whatever Happened to Treating the Customer with Respect???
JERICHO, NEW YORK -- Home Depot is unbelievably horrible. Last week, while I was returning merchandise, the manager of the store (Keith) approached me at the return
counter and began questioning me. His inquiries centered around
whether I had indeed purchased the plants (for which I had a receipt) or
had taken them without paying and was trying to return them to
appropriate funds from the store. When I flashed the receipt and told him that he could come to my car and see the evidence, proving that I had indeed transported the plants in my vehicle he followed me outside. However, once I opened the trunk of my car (which was a mess) he immediately returned inside the store. When I was back at the return counter, awaiting the manager to approach me and apologize for the misunderstanding, he merely called the cashier on the phone and stated that the return could be processed. Unfortunately, given the fact that said manager humiliated me IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS, I informed the cashier that I wanted to speak to him. When the manager arrived, I maintained an attitude of respect (even though I was highly disconcerted by the past sequence of events). He emphatically refused to apologize and we even got into a shouting match--also in front of the customers! I spend a fortune at Home Depot on plants and supplies for my garden each year. So much for being a loyal patron!
