Best Buy Complaint - Return Policy
PARAMUS, NEW JERSEY -- Best buy is a BIG company. They should not resort to a shady practice to make money. I bought/was sold a camera with the understanding that I could return it for any reason. After I bought the camera, the salesman put on a "14 day return" sticker on the box. I grumbled as I was told before by another salesman that I could return it within 30 days. Anyway, I brought the camera home and tried the camera. I went back yesterday(in 7 days)to return it as I did not like the pictures and the idiosyncrasies of the camera. After checking the camera they said they will take back the camera but I would have to pay a 15 % Restocking Fee ( $ 45.00). I was SHOCKED.
The return sticker extension which was pasted on the adjacent side of the box DID mention about restocking fee. The salesman did not show it to me and did not mention at all. And I did not notice it till it was pointed to me by the manager.
Unless the camera is a REAL LEMON or did not work at all, returning an item means losing 15 % . They should have been UPFRONT about it. It was mentioned in a round about way in the sales receipt also. BUT one sees that AFTER the item has been already bought. The closing sticker is also put after the item is purchased.
I talked with two managers. No dice. I was fed up and brought back home the camera.
