Garden Ridge Complaint - Unreasonable return policy

PINEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Last Oct. I purchased a $40.00 beverage dispenser from Garden Ridge for a Christmas gift. On Christmas Day, we discovered it was faulty and the spigot would not prevent liquid from flowing constantly. I returned the gift 3 days later and was told there was nothing they could do about it since it was 3 days past the 60 day deadline. They could not/would not refund my money. The only thing I could do was purchase a more expensive one and pay the difference. I did not opt to do this since there was not another style I liked as much. After much frustration, I emailed the Customer Service Dept. in Texas and explained my dilemma. I never heard a word! Apparently I was penalized for doing my Christmas shopping early...I never thought about having to take the item out of the box and test it, before giving it as a gift! It is still sitting in my closet! I used to be a loyal customer of Garden Ridge, but needless to say, I have not shopped there since!
