Simon Roofing & Sheet Metal Complaint - Bad Business
70 KARAGO AVE. BOARDMAN, OHIO 44512, OHIO -- On April 8, 2004, we entered into an agreement to have a new roof done on our rental property in Boardman Ohio with Simon Roofing & Sheet Metal. This was to be done over the main structure along with a leak over the garage that needed to be repaired. Simon Roofing did not even start the job until the end of August after numerous phone calls and complaints. The owner (who I finally did get to speak with) had no idea what job I was talking about and said that they don't even do residential property. The main roof was eventually done but I continued to hassle with them to fix the leak over the garage carrying this on into the spring of 2005. I finally told them that I would not pay the final balance of $500.00 because the job was not completed. Simon Roofing in turn got their legal representative to draft a mutual release and settlement accepting what I had paid previously as final payment but nulified any warranties. In my desire to have this transaction over with and thinking I had a new roof (done right)I accepted and signed the agreement. The roof had major leaks in the winter of 2008 and caused extensive damage and I eventually took Simon Roofing to small claims court after paying another company $5000.00 to have yet another roof done. This company informed me that Simon Roofing did not give me a roof replacement but only coated or basically gave me a patch job. I was not even able to speak at the hearing because we had signed the mutual release and settlement. To make matters worse the second company (Tri-State Roofing) that we hired to give us yet another roof has gone out of business and our roof is leaking again. In between all this we have hired 2 other companies to try to fix the still leaking roof and spent additional monies. As I sit here today, June 22, 2010, the roof is still leaking and we have spent well over $10,000.00 and can't get any of the companies to come out and fix the leak. (Not to mention the monies spent on the inside for plastering and paint.) Simon Roofing will say oh well you signed the release and we did but we thought we had a quality roofing job done and we were extremely frustrated with their poor business tactics. AWFUL EXPERIENCE and still no resolve.
