How do I start? Well, I purchased a GE Dishwasher because I was very happy with my GE gas range and Micro/Conf oven. I paid over $1000 for it and only purchased it to match the rest of my appliances. I had a track home dishwasher previously for 14 years that still worked fine. I only owned it for a bit over 3 years and thought that since I paid so much for it it would last for years. The bad part of the story is that I went to bed after a dinner party, had unloaded the dishwasher and reloaded a couple of items back into it. In the middle of the night, the dishwasher turned on by itself, stayed on 94 which should have been a wash cycle and stayed on melting the heat resistant silverware holder, water agitator and dish trays. There are marks on the bottom tray that show that it began to char which if my daughter that was visiting and sleeping on the sofa hadn't awaken would have started on fire. Ge offered to replace the dishwasher for $468????? What? I paid over $1000 for it originally. That would make my purchase over $1500. I did file a report with the COnsumer Protection Agency with which they were at my home taking pictures within 2 days. GE, STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCTS. YOUR LUCKY THAT MY HOME DIDN'T CATCH FIRE!
