Frigidaire Complaint - Conditional extended warranty service
AUGUSTA, GEORGIA -- In February of 2010 I noticed that a small nylon or plastic grill pad that cushions the burner grate on my less than year old gas range was missing. It may have been my fault that the little button was lost, but it is a poor design when something that has to be removed to clean has a part the can drop off so easily.
I called one of Frigidaire's service providers and they said they would get the part for me. I called back in March and April trying to get the status on my order for this small part. No one seemed to know what was going on and I had to explain myself each time. Then, the last time I called in May, I was told the order had been canceled with no reason noted. I was given a number to call Frigidaire directly.
When I called Frigidaire they said the part was not covered by my warranty (because by now the range was over the one-year period) and my extended 3-year warranty did not cover the item. But I could buy the part.
Don't believe that those warranties really cover everything. Read the fine print. Frigidaire does not have their act together as far as keeping the customer informed and the people who answer their calls are remarkably unsympathetic.
I went through a similar complicated process when the brand new range needed to have a drawer replaced. The serial number tag was located on the drawer that was replaced so I had to try to get another tag to keep the warranty valid. It took me several calls (explaining myself every time), a couple of faxes, and a couple of months of having to keep the issue in mind to get the tag. By the way, they also spelled my first name wrong on the warranty document.
